SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

We are seeking contributions of visual art, photography, essays, poetry, science writing, and oral history that speak to a collective understanding of the South Yuba River, our watershed, and the surrounding landscapes that make up our bioregion.

Because place isn’t limited to non-human features, neither is this almanac. Ideal pieces will illustrate unique perspectives of what “here” means to you. Please, please, send us your lore, your ghost stories, your love poems, your first-person accounts, your blurry photos, your field notes, your rough sketches - whatever you make that comes from a deep connection with this place, the people and creatures who inhabit it, and what it means to exist here together is welcome.

  • Our submission deadline is OCTOBER 1st 2025

  • Please make sure that you submit written work as .docx, .doc, or .pdf. Visual art should be high resolution (300 dpi), JPEGs, PNGs, or TIFF files

  • For inspiration or examples of the kind of work we’re looking for, please contact us at yubariveralmanac@gmail.com

  • We are grateful for your work! Thank you for trusting us and for being a part of this collective and collaborative art project
